A total of 268 players started play on Thursday to grind it out for a piece of the $129,980 prize pool. Forty returned at noon on Friday with it taking over five hours to reach the final table. Another five hours would pass before the final three were determined. An equity chop left Marc Remmes of Montauk, NY with $17,666 for 3rd, Joe Przybcien in 2nd with $18,917 to take back home to Sturbridge, MA, and Ken Wisniewski of Abington, MA capturing the Championship Trophy along with the Top Prize of $26,523!

A total of 442 players started play on Tuesday vying for a piece of the $128,622 prize pool. Thirty returned at noon on Wednesday, and by 3:30 PM the final table was determined. The final table’s initial chip leader, Rohan Long of Windsor, CT would hold on until the end, capturing the $340 Mega Stack Challenge Trophy and $33,185 for his championship win. Carlos Martinez would take $17,557 home to Punta Gorda, FL for his 2nd place finish, while Chris Chou of Malden, MA would finish 3rd earning $10,290.

The 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $10,000 No-Limit Championship became a showdown between the two initial final table chip leaders. Cornel and Soheil battled it out for over two hours and in the end, League City, TX poker pro Cornel Andrew Cimpan became the 2009 Champion, taking the Championship Trophy, Commemorative Leather Jacket, and $910,058, which includes a $25,500 Seat to the WPT Championship in Las Vegas Nevada!!

The Final Table got underway just after 4 pm and it only took two hands before Lee Markholt of University Place, WA, was all-in with A/K. Matt Stout raised to 100k followed by Lee’s all-in raise to 236k. Matt called with As6s and caught a flush draw on the 5h4sQs flop. The 5c on the turn didn’t hurt, but the 3s on the river left Lee with 6th place money of $166,069. This was the record setting 20th time Lee has cashed in a WPT event.

The 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Championship attracted 127 entrants who competed for a total prize pool of $286,416. In the end Kathy Liebert of Las Vegas, NV, battled it out heads-up with Ken Justin of Cambridge, MA, for almost three hours. Ken would finish 2nd, taking $60,000 and the Commemorative Leather Jacket, while Kathy captured the Championship Trophy, $74,616 and the 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Championship Title. On Monday at 2PM, nine contenders returned for final table action. Play was started with fifty six minutes left on level 14 with the blinds at 2k/4k. Fifteen minutes into level 15, Christian Iacobellis of Rye, NY,

found himself all-in with his last 19k. Chris was called all-in by Diego Mannone who showed pocket K’s to Chris’ Qc10h. Diego picked-up a set on the 3sKs5s flop and filled with the 5c on the river, leaving Chris in 9thearning $6,876. It took over an hour to lose the first player and only ten minutes before, Ben Bianco, a resident of Frankilin Square, NY, would call all-in with his last 45k to Vanessa Selbst’s raise to 49K. Next to act was Ken Justin who raised all-in with an additional 110k. Vanessa called with pocket 10’s. Ben showed pocket J’s, while Ken had AdQh. The board played out 8dAs8h2cAh relegating Ben to 8th with a $10,024 payday.

THOMAS RENAULT TAKES $57,749 AND THE TROPHY!!

A total of 330 players entered the $1000 No-Limit Hold’em event in the 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals. With a total prize pool of $291,291 on the line, Thomas Renault of Arlington, MA and Fred Kammerer of North Salem, NY reach an agreement where Fred took $57,748 and the Commemorative Leather Jacket, while Thomas captured the Championship Trophy, and $57,749. Sixteen players returned at 2PM on Saturday to continue the quest for the Championship; the final table got under way at 3 pm. An hour would pass with the blinds reaching 6K/12K, when Paul Freedman,of Seabrook, NH would push his last 92K. Paul had As7c, and was called by the big blind, Robert Rosen, who had Ks10h. The flop (Qd6dJd) gave Robert an open ended straight draw which he hit on the turn with the 9d, leaving Paul in 10th earning $4,369.

$60,622 TO THE FIRST PLACE WINNER CHRIS SCHONBACH!!

The finale of the 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 No-Limit Championship came down to an agreement amongst the final three contestants. Coming into the final table from the seventh chip stack position, was the eventual 2009 FWPF $600 No-Limit Champion Chris Schonbach, from Braintree, MA. Chris finished with a 4 : 1 chip advantage over his next closest competitor and would take a cash prize of $60,622. A total of 528 players started on Wednesday and 13 returned at 2PM on Thursday to compete for the remainder of the $271,445 prize pool. The final table got underway at 3PM and it took fifteen minutes before David Diaz of Bartlett, TN would move all-in with $192k after the flop, against then chip leader Marty Gorenc. David showed KcKh to Marty who had Jc9c which gave Marty two pair on the 8hJh9s flop. The 7s2h completed the board, leaving David in 10th place with a $3,257 payday.
