The “durrrr” Challenge: Dwan Widens Lead to $1.75 Million
Patrik Antonius capped off a miserable day at the online tables with another losing session in the “durrrr” Challenge, his tenth in their last eleven meetings. Antonius and Tom “durrrr” Dwan met for only a bit over an hour and 364 hands, but the Finn couldn’t gain any ground on his rival, losing $342,157. Dwan’s total lead now stands at $1,755,708 with 16,758 hands remaining in their match. At this point, a comeback is a tall order for Antonius. In order to catch Dwan, he needs to win an average of $104.77 per hand, or about 27 big blinds per 100 hands over the final third of the match.
Dwan took down two out of the three six-figure pots that materialized, the largest coming in at over $213,000. Dwan led off the action with a raise to $1,200 and set off a pre-flop raising war that ended with Antonius’ five-bet to $32,400. Dwan called, and the flop came down

. With $64,800 already in the pot and $74,493 remaining in Antonius’ stack, he got the rest of his chips in the middle after betting pot and calling a raise from Dwan that set him in for the balance. Antonius had the best of it before the flop and on the flop with

, but Dwan hit top pair and the nut flush draw with

. Dwan took the lead when the
on the turn made him two pair and locked up the $213,785 pot with the
on the river.
Antonius did lay claim to one monsterpotten, which stacked up at nearly $185,000. The hand played out in similar fashion to the previous one, beginning with the five bets that went in before the

flop. Antonius made a pot-sized bet of $64,800 and Dwan called all in for a bit less, turning over

for a wrap draw while Antonius showed an overpair and an open-ended straight draw with

. This time, Antonius’ kings held up, improving to sixes full by the river and he raked in the $184,790 pot.
Will Dwan continue to run the table or can Antonius turn this match around? Stay tuned.
