The 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Championship attracted 127 entrants who competed for a total prize pool of $286,416. In the end Kathy Liebert of Las Vegas, NV, battled it out heads-up with Ken Justin of Cambridge, MA, for almost three hours. Ken would finish 2nd, taking $60,000 and the Commemorative Leather Jacket, while Kathy captured the Championship Trophy, $74,616 and the 2009 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Championship Title. On Monday at 2PM, nine contenders returned for final table action. Play was started with fifty six minutes left on level 14 with the blinds at 2k/4k. Fifteen minutes into level 15, Christian Iacobellis of Rye, NY,

found himself all-in with his last 19k. Chris was called all-in by Diego Mannone who showed pocket K’s to Chris’ Qc10h. Diego picked-up a set on the 3sKs5s flop and filled with the 5c on the river, leaving Chris in 9thearning $6,876. It took over an hour to lose the first player and only ten minutes before, Ben Bianco, a resident of Frankilin Square, NY, would call all-in with his last 45k to Vanessa Selbst’s raise to 49K. Next to act was Ken Justin who raised all-in with an additional 110k. Vanessa called with pocket 10’s. Ben showed pocket J’s, while Ken had AdQh. The board played out 8dAs8h2cAh relegating Ben to 8th with a $10,024 payday.

Mike Simon would call all-in to Michael Banducci’s all-in raise before the flop. Mike had Ks3s to Michael’s Ad8s. The board (8c7dQd7h5c) left Mike in 7th with $13,176 to take back home to Champlin, MN. Play continued for just under an hour before Diego Mannone would move all-in with 59k on top of Kathy Liebert’s raise to 32k. Kathy had

AsKd while Diego showed AcJs. The 2d3s5dQs2h on the board left Diego, a resident of Medford, MA, in 6th

with $16,612. With the blinds at 5k/10k, Allie Prescott of Memphis, TN, would push 170k all-in with pocket 9’s.

Vanessa called with pocket J’s. The board came up 7h3sAsAd7s ending Allie’s run with a 5th place finish for

$20,192. The 4th place finisher was Michael Banducci, the final tables initial chip leader. Kathy raised to 30k

followed by Michael coming over the top with another 57k, Kathy came back on top with 120k, Michael moved

all-in with Kathy calling. Michael showed AcKs, while Kathy played pocket Q’s. Michael missed the board

(9s8d5h3d4s) leaving him with 4th and $23,629 to take back home to Traverse City, MI. This years FWPF

$1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Champion was next to leave.

Vanessa Selbst of New Haven, CT, moved all-in with her last 38k. Ken Justin, who in the previous hand had captured 350k of Vanessa’s chips, called with Qh9h to Vanessa’s Jh3h. The board (Ah5h5dKh2c) gave Ken a higher flush and Vanessa $28,642 for 3rd. The final two battled it out for almost three hours, with the chip lead bouncing back and forth, until Kathy raised to 74k only to be raised all-in by Ken. Kathy called and showed AcQc to Ken’s pocket 9’s. Ken relaxed a little after the 8d3h5s flop, but then the As6c on the turn and river would end Ken’s run with 2nd place for $60,000 and the Leather Jacket. Kathy Liebert earned $74,616 and the Championship Tropy
