DAN SUIED TAKES DOWN FIRST AND COLLECTS $55,000 AND THE HARDWARE!!
1,125 players anteed up $300 to enter the 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic No-Limit Hold’em Shoot-out. Single table shoot-outs were held at 10 am and 1 pm and the top three players on each table advanced to the 4 pm Finals. A total of 363 winners returned at 4 pm to pursue the prize pool of $283,725! By curfew there were 18 players remaining; they resumed play at 2:00 pm on Tuesday and by 2:45 pm the Final Table was underway. After just under three hours of play, the final four reached an agreement which left Dan Suied of Billerica, MA, claiming the Championship Trophy and $55,000 in winnings. The commemorative leather jacket went to 3rd place finisher Stephen Lateano.
Dennis Terrell Jr of Farmingdale, ME was the first to leave the final table after betting 20k when the
flop came out Qs6c9d. He was raised all-in by chip leader Dan Suied. Dennis called with his last 58K, turning over 10h6h to Dan’s Ah3c. The AdAc hit the turn and river leaving Dennis in 10th with a $2,723 payday. Bryan Barrile watched the flop and turn show 6c10d6s4c and Dan bet 60k. Bryan raised all-in with his last 109k and was quickly called by Dan. The river (2c) left Bryan in 9th heading back to Amherst, MA with $4,628. With the blinds at 5k/10k, Bruce Kater of North Andover, MA would move all-in with 115k. Thomas Cady called with AsQc to Bruce’s Ad6d. The board came-up 2dJh3d5sJs and relegated Bruce to 8th place earning him $7,406 for his efforts.
Aires Mourao from Stratford, CT would raise all-in with his last $45k with Jc10c and was called by Dan
with Ad4h. The board (7h4dKh3s9d) did nothing for Aires but leave him heading home with $$10,242 for 7th
place. David Hathaway survived four potential eliminating all-ins after starting the final table with the second
short stack and even getting down to his last 20k. David rode his roller coaster to a 6th place finish after instacalling
Michael DeLaMaza, who moved all-in with KsKh. David flipped over QcQs and watched the board
(10sKc8d10c6s) give Michael K’s full and himself $13,080 to take back home to Monmouth, ME. Michael
DeLaMaza was next to be called after moving all-in with Kh7d. He was called by chip leader Dan with Qh10h.
The board came-up 6/4/4/10/10 giving Dan 10’s full and leaving Michael of Woburn, MA in 5th, with a $15,917
payday.
With Dan enjoying a sizable chip advantage over Eli Abbott, Stephen Lateano, and Thomas Cady, the
